When Robin Sturdivant enrolled in the School of Professional Studies’ Meeting and Event Planning Professional Certificate program, she was confident it would give her the edge she needed to expand her hobby — events planning for family and friends — into a business.

In the course of the two and a half months that followed, the online program took Sturdivant through the basics of event planning and into special event design, risk management, marketing for events and sales strategies. She learned about different kinds of events, from corporate and fundraising to weddings, trade shows and virtual events. All taught by award-winning experts in the event planning industry.
“I want to be competitive, and being competitive means being able to position myself in all the different avenues out there,” said Sturdivant. “Each instructor brought something that I needed to understand.”
Today, Sturdivant is a certified meeting and event planning professional, and the owner of She That Finds, an event planning business for all occasions.
The convenience of the program, said Sturdivant, allowed her to juggle school, work and family obligations, and gave her the confidence to introduce her talents to more than just family and friends.
“It was online. It was convenient. It didn’t take years to get done,” she said. “Now, I’m ready.”
