UNC Charlotte to Offer New Professional Studies Degree

Categories: News

UNC Charlotte furthers its commitment to adult learners with the addition of a new online bachelor’s degree completion program in professional studies. The program can be completed part-time with courses delivered 100% online to maximize opportunities for students to complete their degree while working or taking care of other responsibilities. The new undergraduate degree allows the Charlotte community to leverage its expertise in delivering high-quality instruction and support as recently recognized as #10 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

“Much of our work in the School of Professional Studies is focused on adding on-ramps for working professionals. The professional studies degree offers an express lane to the bachelor’s degree that is often the key to career advancement for adults with some college credit but no degree,” said Asher Haines, associate provost. “This 100% online degree presents a multidisciplinary curriculum that is drawn from several colleges and departments to offer a unique path to degree completion – a win for our students and regional employers.”

The B.S. in Professional Studies is designed to accommodate adult transfer students and to serve populations such as our 49er Finish students. The new program includes workplace-focused skills in communications and leadership along with technical skill tracks in project management, human resource management, and information technology to prepare graduates for in-demand jobs. The capstone course allows students to apply what they have learned and work on an industry project with the Career Center staff. Students with qualifying transfer credit can complete the program in as little as 12 months.

The program application opens on August 1 for prospective students who will start classes in January 2023. For more information on the program or to speak with an enrollment specialist, please visit professional.charlotte.edu/programs/professional-studies-bs.
