AISLE is now called Learning Space Technology
Effective September 1st, UNC Charlotte’s AISLE department will be referred to as Learning Space Technology. The change comes as a measure to better differentiate the roles between the University’s various technology-focused departments, and will not affect the division of services provided by them.
“We believe the new title offers campus users of our services a more succinct description than the previous acronym, AISLE,” said Learning Space Technology Director Steven Skelton. “This departmental name change is to more clearly define what we do, and the services our team provides to the University.”
As part of the School of Professional Studies, the Learning Space Technology Team provides complete learning space technology installation and technical support services, and consists of two groups:
- The AV Integration Team provides audio-visual installation services to support projects within new and existing spaces around campus. All requests for new projects must be submitted through the needs analysis form.
- The Classroom Support Team supports and maintains these spaces, accepting support calls with a 10-minute response time. You can reach a live Classroom Support call center staff member by pressing the red “system help” button on the classroom touch panel or by email or phone.
The services these teams provide directly support the University’s mission and strategic plan by ensuring all campus users have excellent learning spaces in which to teach and learn.
“Audio-visual technology is crucial for classroom learning and student success in today’s digital age. It engages students on multiple sensory levels, enhances comprehension, and fosters interactive learning experiences,” said UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies Associate Provost Asher Haines. “As we continue to offer exciting, new educational opportunities, and as our technology continues to advance at a rapid rate, we want to ensure that campus users can quickly reference the appropriate team to support their learning technology needs.”
The Learning Space Technology Team is located on the ground floor of the Cameron Hall building, Suite 163. The physical address is 9010 Craver Rd.
