Kiran Budhrani is the Director of Teaching & Learning Innovation at the Center for Teaching and Learning at UNC Charlotte. She has 15 years of experience as an educator and learning professional. Her work drives collaborations among faculty and design teams towards innovative solutions for online learning, hybrid learning, active learning, and adaptive learning modalities. Kiran’s approaches are guided by transformative, authentic, project-based learning philosophies.

Kiran is a doctoral candidate in Ed.D. Educational Leadership – Learning, Design and Technology with research interests in online learning, online teaching competencies, course design, learning design patterns, and course modeling toolkits. She holds a Masters in Computer Applications with a specialization in Instructional Systems Technology (IST) and B.S. in Computer Science with specialization in Instructional Systems Technology (IST) from De La Salle University-Manila. Kiran is actively engaged in educational technology organizations having served as the Graduate Student Assembly President of AECT and VP Marketing & Communications for ISPI Charlotte.

Kiran was formerly an Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems Technology and Chairperson of Information Technology at De La Salle University-Manila. She also served as a national e-learning consultant to increase access to education resulting in: (1) the development of over 200 e-learning modules for out-of-school youth with the Philippine Commission on ICT; (2) the establishment of the first online MOOC for Philippine vocational education with over 40 online courses with TESDA; and (3) the development of over 30 video-based courseware on micro-finance for farming communities. She is also the author of 12 digital literacy and citizenship textbooks for elementary students.
