Faculty can embed ready-made, industry-developed microcredentials into courses starting July 2025

Starting July 2025, all UNC Charlotte students, faculty and staff will receive free access to a library of industry-recognized microcredentials in high-demand fields such as data analytics, project management, cybersecurity, UX design and artificial intelligence.

Developed by leading employers like Google, IBM and Meta, these flexible, online credentials—available through a new partnership with Coursera—are designed to strengthen career readiness and complement academic programs.

Led by the School of Professional Studies, Career Center and the College of Computing and Informatics, the initiative empowers faculty to embed certificate content directly into credit-bearing courses or co-curricular offerings, providing students with practical, job-relevant experience alongside their degree.

Faculty interested in incorporating these credentials into their courses should complete this brief interest form and a staff member from the School of Professional Studies will follow up with additional information.

The Career Center will coordinate campus-wide access and support integration into co-curricular programming.
